İzmir Pro Aestetic Dental Clinic

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped and structured covering placed over a damaged tooth to enhance its strength and durability and create a smoother appearance. Crown treatment allows you to repair cracked or decayed teeth without the need for extraction.

Dental crowns are specially prepared in a laboratory and placed over a damaged tooth. They are designed to closely mimic the characteristics of a natural tooth and can fully cover one or more teeth.

Crown treatment eliminates the appearance of a damaged tooth, removes decay, evens out tooth color, and correctly adjusts the tooth size.

Why Are Dental Crowns Preferred?

  • Dental crowns are a versatile solution, often recommended to:
  • Strengthen a cracked or broken tooth.
  • Repair a tooth with old or large fillings.
  • Treat a decayed tooth.
  • Strengthen a tooth that has had a root canal.
  • Cover a dental implant.
  • Anchor a dental bridge.

Types of Crowns

Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure while improving the overall appearance of your smile. Multiple crown options are available, depending on the patient's preference and the condition of the teeth:

  • Porcelain crown
  • Zirconium crown
  • Empress crown
  • Laminate veneer
  • The Crown Procedure

The crown procedure is typically completed within approximately 1 week, depending on the number of teeth being treated.

  • Preparation: Local anesthesia is applied, and the tooth that will receive the crown is reduced (prepared).
  • Impression: After the tooth reduction is complete, an intraoral impression is taken to ensure the custom crown fits perfectly.
  • Temporary Crown: A temporary crown is provided to the patient while the permanent crown is being prepared in the laboratory.
  • Placement: Once the permanent crown is ready, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is cemented into place.
