Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped and structured covering placed over a damaged tooth to enhance its strength and durability and create a smoother appearance. Crown treatment allows you to repair cracked or decayed teeth without the need for extraction.

Dental crowns are specially prepared in a laboratory and placed over a damaged tooth. They are designed to closely mimic the characteristics of a natural tooth and can fully cover one or more teeth.

Crown treatment eliminates the appearance of a damaged tooth, removes decay, evens out tooth color, and correctly adjusts the tooth size.

• The Crown Procedure

The crown procedure is typically completed within approximately 1 week, depending on the number of teeth being treated.

• Preparation: Local anesthesia is applied, and the tooth that will receive the crown is reduced (prepared).
• Impression: After the tooth reduction is complete, an intraoral impression is taken to ensure the custom crown fits perfectly.
• Temporary Crown: A temporary crown is provided to the patient while the permanent crown is being prepared in the laboratory.
• Placement: Once the permanent crown is ready, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is cemented into place.
